The scholarship programme was launched at the inaugural AUTP Trainees conference held in September 2018. The initiative supports new and exciting educational projects in the field of Psychiatry education, through financial support and mentorship.
Medical students, foundation doctors and core trainees in psychiatry from across the UK had been invited to submit abstracts with details of their education projects and ideas. After a competitive application process, nine shortlisted applicants presented their impressive projects at the first conference in a quick fire “Dragons Den” style pitch. The session was truly inspiring and received excellent feedback from conference delegates (and the “judges”!).
the AUTP trainees have run two successful years of the scholarship programme and competition has been tough! The judges had a very difficult time choosing the winners
The projects awarded ranged from improving safety to improving awareness of mental health in the physical health setting
Supporting the scholars to complete their projects is a priority for the AUTP Trainees committee and after evaluation, we hope that this scheme can be continued for future years!
